Concierto de Doves

Bueno, iba a ser "mi concierto del año". Acercándose cada vez mas la fecha del concierto de U2 en Sevilla, y alejándose cada vez más la posibilidad de ir, me encomendé a estos 3 genios (cuatro en el escenario) para vivir una gran noche.

Sin embargo, poder asistir a un concierto de Doves, sin coger aviones, sin prisas, gastando tan solo las 21 libras de la entada, cogiendo un autobús durante 5 minutos para ahorrarte una tortuosa cuesta "edimburguesa", y que el concierto sea un éxito, era pedir quizás demasiado.

Todo empezó con unos, en ocasiones, brillantes teloneros; The Ray summers. El problema es que el teatro, un "Picture house" vetusto, y pegajoso (literalmente, la moqueta tenia claro síntomas de alcoholismo...) no dejaba escuchar apenas nada más que ensordecedor ruido.
"Eso es por ser los teloneros, ahora lo ajustan mejor para Doves.."Sabios pensamientos que no pudieron ser más erróneos.

Empezó Doves con una canción semi-desconocida ("Push me on"), que no hizo más que anticipar el desastre de sonido y de escasa implicación del público.
Apenas la primera fila se implicaba en saltar y corear las inaudibles letras.

Siguió el concierto, y llegaron las prodigiosas "Winter Hill" o "10:03" de su último disco. Pero no había remedio.

Por mucha broma que soltase el cantante, apenas unos pocos disfrutaban.

Para ir terminando, llegaron "Black And White Town" o "Pounding", que sin mejorar nada el sonido, al menos hicieron que la gente recordase ante el gran grupo que se encontraban.

Para cerrar, una canción de su época como "Sub Sub", "Spaceface". No creo que fuese la mejor forma determinar el último concierto de Doves en Edimburgo, durante un tiempo (tras los festivales de Agosto, se retiran un tiempo, esperemos que no mucho...)

Yo, pese a todo, siempre lo recordaré con cariño. Esta claro que no ha sido el mejor concierto de mi vida, pero siempre será un concierto de Doves, en Edimburgo, y espero que no sea el último.

"Spellbound"

Por enésima vez, Doves lo han vuelto a conseguir; me han vuelto a emocionar.
Cuando escuché el single de presentación del nuevo disco "Kingdom of rust", ya se intuía que iba para discazo.



(La portada si me parece un pelín mala...)

Esperaba con ansias este disco, incluso tanto como el de Starsailor, y sin duda, ninguno de los dos me han decepcionado.
Aunque aún me cause un poco de recelo canciones como "Compulsion", es sin duda un discazo, y "Spellbound", un trallazo de canción.

"A house"

Uno de los problemas que siempre he encontrado para escribir entradas, es que la música que puede representar el momento que estoy escribiendo, no suele tener un video en youtube, o no esta en los "radio-blog" gratuitos.

Despues de buscar un poco, he encontrado una solución genial:

Gracias a esta solución, os puedo dejar una canción, con la que, sobretodo ayer, me sentí muy identificado. Como no, es de Doves, se llama "A house" y es la última canción de un impresionante disco; "Lost souls"

"Firesuite"

Mientras escribo esto, realmente no se que canción titula esta entrada, realmente no me importa quién la canta, la interpreta, o la creó. Sin embargo, quizás sea una gran canción, quizás sea la canción que me recomponga, que vuelva a unir las piezas, que me vuelva a dejar seguir adelante. No se si tan siquiera sea una buena canción.

Llevo unos dias atrapado, no dejo de repetir una y otra vez la canción "A Lack of Color" , según voy conduciendo, acabo quitando la función random, y comienzo a buscarla entre cada disco, etre cada pista. No es importante, al menos normalmente, no es importante. Sin embargo esta obsesión por la canción, nació en mi por una razón, trasmitirme calma, y lo cierto es que lo conseguia. Durante cada nota nada era importante, todo parecia en su sitio, todo estaba como debía. Sin embrago, todo se termina, o más bien, tengo que hacer que todo termine. Mientras volvia a transportarme a esa calma por segunda vez en menos de 10 minutos, recordé que existia otro disco de "Death Cab for Cutie", recordé que aún no lo había escuchado, que quizás hubiese otra canción que me trasmitiese esa calma, en definitiva, que quizás, solo quizás, me estaba perdiendo alguna maravillosa canción mientras saboreaba esta.

Este es el punto, mientras aún disfrutaba de una canción, mientras aún la clama iba relajando mi cuerpo, la parte más física de mí, mi mente no soportaba la posibilidad de no haber escuchado un disco, de no haberme parado a disfrutar de otras canciones.

Supongo que una vez que te das cuenta de algo, lo vas trasladando a cada parte de tu vida, y quizás ese es el problema, tratar de descubir un nuevo disco sin haber terminado de disfrutar de una gran canción.




Finalmente la cación ha sido "Firesuite" de Doves




No tiene letra, con lo mio hoy ha sido suficiente.


Mañana sera otro día.



Por cierto, pronto, otra visita al "otro lado" ;)

Hoy, navaegando un poco por last.fm, he recordado una de las grandes canciones que me hicieron adorar a Doves.

La cación es "Words" de su disco "The Last Broadcast"

Una de mis preferidas del disco junto a "Caught by the river", "N.Y.", "M62 song"... pero tienen alguna que no me guste???


El video no es el del grupo, pero como el tio se lo ha currado y tiene la canción original.. a disfrutar!!!

Es extraño que no haya enlazado nunca antes una canción de Doves.

Esta mañana, no he podido evitar pegarme un subidón y escuchar una de las caciones más animadas que les conozco.

Se podría decir que han sido "mí" grupo del año. Ha estado todo 2007 resonando en mi cabeza, tanto "Some cities" (2005) como "Lost souls" (2000)

Se me olvidaba, esta cación está dentro del genial "Some cities"
